The Greek Forum for Refugees (GFR) was created in 2010 and funded in 2012 as non-profit association. The GFR mission concerns the creation a national scale sustainable network of individuals, unions, communities and associations working on asylum seekers, refugees and stateless person’s support, mainly in relation to their auto-organization, public expression and representation, through a common course of action.
The Greek Forum for Refugees aims to provide assistance to refugees during the asylum procedure, to protect their rights and to assist their integration into Greek society.

• Protection of Refugees’ and asylum seekers Rights
• Information on their rights and obligations.
• Systematic dialogue with organizations of civil society to protect and assure assistance.
• Participation in the public debate, with the Greek and European authorities for a functional and fair asylum system.
• Raising public awareness of the public and authorities
• Disclosure of human rights violations.
• Recording and reporting abuse, discrimination, lack of protection, social exclusion.
• Update the profile of refugees (abandonment’ reasons of their homeland, problems during the journey, the needs and problems in the host country).
• Encouraging participation and integration of refugees
• Cooperation between Greek and refugees’ communities to come closer to Greek society.
• Supporting Refugees’ self-organization and the ability to participate in social life and public debate.
• Networking in Greece and Abroad:
• Cooperation with organizations concerning refugee communities and their rights in Greece, in Europe and on an international level.
