The Project
BACKGROUND
Refugees entering European countries after facing the trauma of war or persecution are very vulnerable and need a great deal of support to establish a new life in their host country.
WHO WE ARE
The REHAC project is implemented by a transnational partnership led by Euracademy Association, including NGOs and public organisations from Greece, Slovenia, Sweden, Norway and Italy
WHAT WE AIM TO ACHIEVE
To ease the transition experienced in settling in a different country and culture, and start the process of building confidence and personal growth after traumatic life-changing events
Project Partners
“I believe a more integrated use of cultural expressions in refugee training and support would have a positive effect on many aspects related to learning, socializing, adapting to a new environment and personal development”
Activities
Events
National workshops
Four national workshops were organized with a clear objective of bringing together a wide range of project stakeholders and disseminating the key project outputs. In total the national workshops presented the project outputs to 270 participants in Greece, Norway, Sweden and Slovenia, and included a practical demonstration of selected learning activities employing art and cultural expressions.
International conference
An international 2-day conference took place in Livorno, Italy, to mark the end of the project and invite Italian and international participants from stakeholder organisations to share their experiences in implementing the REHAC methodology and learning activities with refugees, learn about good practice examples and receive guidance on using of the REHAC outputs, and discuss about the potential of mainstreaming the REHAC outputs in formal and informal adult education courses offered in different European countries.
